I know all too well
that I'll visit
this memory
a thousand times
so would you
tell me please
will these hours
never cease?
will this moment
come to pass
or could I stay
with you forever
Could we only
let it last
even just
for a while
I can't remember
when I first met you
but the air feels
the same as it did
Was it august
or was it september
or was it only
a change in the wind

Candlelight
02:55
|
|
||
Open up a box of matches
and light comes pouring out
phosphorescence
and the room is so dark
save for this warm candlelight
and inside and outside
now it's so quiet.
The waning moon
and her soft white glow
I guess that everyone
must be sleeping
the window is open, just a crack
and the sound of the wind
reminds me of the sea.
The candle starts to melt
wax drips slow onto the windowsill
and the light flickers and dies out
it must be time for me to sleep as well.

The whole world slows down
as if to take a deep breath
people walk from here to nowhere
enjoying every step
Smiles on their faces
the day is almost done
and shadows growing longer
beneath a dying sun
Here I begin
and here it all comes to an end
would you lay me down?
could you be a friend?
And a table's been turned over
lying by a tree
and the weeping willow's arms
are watching over me

Morning Rain
02:22
|
|
||
Step out into the street
look down at the old concrete
won't make eye contact
Low hanging branches
overhead
flowers catch in my hair
It gets dark at midday
the wind in my face
Clouds threaten thunder
you better beware
It's time to go now
break out of the house
and get caught in the rain

Song for the Snow
03:18
|
|
||
Those snowflakes falling
I think back on it fondly
you know it's a precious thing
that fades away so swiftly
Circling round a fire –
that snow-covered ground
reflecting in the moonlight –
we hang around past midnight
Then the night grows old
and we’re all slowing down
so we’ll head back towards town
and sleep so easily
Don’t let it go
you won’t get it back
Our footprints in the mud
the very next morning
tell a different story –
you’d think that we were dreaming

Riverrun
03:27
|
|
||
I float down the river
I drift downstream
I let it carry me away
to set me free
and let me go
Surrounded by the water
it takes me in
so dark beneath the surface
so cold and so dim
I can't say how deep
I toss and turn all night
in my dreams, the turning tide
the water overwhelms me
the waves and the night sky
these shades of blue

Après le Déluge
03:06
|
|
||
The earth runs through my fingers
like ash or dust
as sunlight filters through the leaves
of a nearby cherry tree.
My thoughts all adrift
behind a cloud, the sun recedes
In the dirt I make a cradle
for this sunflower seed.
And so I wait
for the rain to come
and wake up
this sleeping ground
If I can help this little seed
To find its way
then that's good enough for me
the night turns back into day.

Rêverie
02:32
|
|
||
We walk through streets
under dim city lights
and the ground is paved
with golden leaves
falling all round
Whirling through the night
we catch ourselves at a park
and we dance
or fall on the grass
and then we laugh
In celebration
of the birthday
of a dear friend
and we roll on
through the weary night
Until we rest our heads
at the end of it all
and lay our hands on our chests
feeling our breath
we rise and we fall
And eventually we let go -

Watercolours
03:38
|
|
||
It was a late night
and I woke up in a state
sun pouring in bright -
the middle of the day
I need to do anything
or this day will pass me by
find myself falling
further behind
I'll tidy up my things,
breathe in the clean air
and leave all my dreams
in a state of disrepair
...and here I lay

Le Vent se Lève
03:34
|
|
||
Taking off
goodbye to land
lighter than air
in the palm of my hand
Break of dawn
sky lighting
clouds catch fire
before subsiding
The wind, oh the wind
rocking back and forth
like a child in a cradle
I'm taking off
Teardrops hover
over a sleeping city
I remember a garden
full of waterlilies
How I dream to fly –
hot air balloon
bursting through the clouds –
and waking up too soon
Forget everything
but the horizon
and the calm wind
that's always rising

Tender is the Night
02:12
|
|
||
Street lights all fade in
one at a time
to light up this city like
christmas lights or daylight.
I see a pool of raindrops
and inside it some bright white
reflection or halo
sitting still and all alone.
My reflection shifts
or breathes or sighs
and it's time to go back home.

Un Moineau sous la Lune
01:48
|
|
||
The moonlight in my mirror
in the quiet dead of night
peeks through the curtains
just to give me a smile
The sunlight on the city
as it starts to rise
is a daisy shade of yellow,
a rosy kind of life
The magpie in his daydream
is a sight to behold
and the sleepy-eyed sparrow
tells a story seldom told
